Three Lures You Must Have and How to Use Them

Do you know what the top 3 lures for catching Bass are? A survey of professional Bass fishermen found that plastic worms came first by a large margin. Then came spinnerbait and crank bait.

Any fisherman knows that using one of these 3 lures is not enough. You need to match your lure to the lake, and to your strategy, too. If you'll be fishing a smaller segment of water thoroughly, a worm or spinnerbait probably is best. Using a worm is slower, but extremely effective and it is very seductive to Bass. They do best when the fish are schooled over a particular structure. Spinnerbait can be moved more quickly across the surface and can be bounced on the bottom, sent against a tree limb and moved in many different ways in order to stimulate strikes. It is a great lure for probing the shoreline because its built tangle-free.

But if you're planning to move across a large area of water as quickly as possible to find fish, then you should use crank bait. Crankbaits let you cover a lot of water quickly, so you can try a spot without wasting much time. You'll fish more area to locate fish scattered throughout the lake.

Whatever lure you select for the particular lake that you are fishing on, you need to make it easy for the Bass to get at it. Try to drop that lure right in front of them. Bass will ignore opportunities to strike prey that require too much energy as compared to the return.

Learn to fish all 3 of these lures effectively, and you will catch more than your share of big game Bass!
